Seed Prices Likely To Remain Stable
Posted in General by Curtis Williams
Harvest weather has returned, fields have dried out and the combines and windrowers are running most hours of the day to get the rest of the crops under cover. At this point we are halfway or a little better to the finish line.
Still too many mixed reports to make judgements about the crop with the most common words being used to describe yields as “good” or “average.”
We have seen fine fescues that are coming in 1600-2200 lbs., and turf tall fescues in the range of 1600-1800 lbs. As we told you last week, Bluegrasses are coming in good and way better than last year!
Of concern to us is that the first fields of perennial ryegrass from some of our best growers and highest yielding varieties are coming in 25-35% off of last year. If this trend continues, there will be no need to worry about any price fluctuations!
