We continue to be astounded by the adaptation and consumption of Turf Type Tall Fescue. While it replaced Perennial Ryegrass as the number 1 grass seed crop in Oregon several years ago, it continues to replace Bluegrass and Ryegrass in Northern climates and in the export markets such as the EU and China. When coupled with the forage production of Tall Fescues, we produce approximately 200 million pounds every year!

Turfgrass breeders continue to make progress in improving brown patch resistance, impart more rapid establishment and extend overall adaptations to different environments. Endophytes continue to be incorporated and are increasing persistence and tolerance to above ground insect feedings and diseases.

Turf Merchants continues to develop new Turf Type Tall Fescue seed – such as 4th Millennium – that is both drought tolerant and disease resistant, all as part of our commitment to sustainable natural grass and responding to the needs of the marketplace.
