The Turfgrass Water Conservation Alliance (TWCA) is on a roll in 2017 with the addition of 3 new Class A members. Barenbrug USA, Integra Seeds and BrettYoung! Additionally, there has been a 50% increase in Class E memberships also.

Our work in educating the public about turfgrass and drought tolerance ramps up as we begin the long journey to work with ASHRAE to remove turf limits from their specs.

We are working with NTEP to find common ground as their drought trialing has adopted the TWCA protocols. We can now start to focus our educational efforts in certain areas rather than continue casting a broad net both demographically and geographically. In general, we are working to increase our value to all Class A and Class E members.

We are extending our trial sites for acute/chronic stress from Quebec, Canada to Rolesville, North Carolina and from Oregon to Virginia! We are also beginning to incorporate drought standards for warm season grasses into our thought patterns.

It’s going to be a great year for moving the ball forward on improved availability of drought tolerant grasses in the marketplace.
