Key Benefits
- Drought-Resistance/Water Savings
- Traffic Wear Resistance
- Dollar Spot Resistance
In a 2011 NTEP trial, Rainwater was in the top 10% of Perennial Ryegrasses studied for traffic wear resistance (at Blacksburg). And again in a 2012 NTEP trial, Rainwater was rated in the top 10% for turfgrass quality.
What makes these superior rankings unique is Rainwater’s qualification by the Turfgrass Water Conservation Alliance (TWCA). The protocols for TWCA qualification are highly demanding, requiring that water-starved grass maintain green covering through a series of drought simulations. Acceptance of this two-year protocol is only available after the organization has received two year’s of independent third-party data verifying the turfgrass qualifies for testing.
Rainwater is also part of Turf Merchants’ water-saving Aqua Wise® program.
As TMI developed the Rainwater seed, we also sought to provide resistance to a common turfgrass problem: Dollar Spot. A 2011 NTEP trial demonstrated Rainwater’s substantial resistance to the disease, providing additional peace-of-mind to your customers.

Rainwater is a TWCA qualified and Blue Tag certified grass seed ideal for sports field, golf and landscaping applications, including new seeding and overseeding.
